This year, I have the privilege of teaching Eighth Grade English.  It is wonderful to be back in the field of imagination and the written word!  Eighth Grade English is designed to involve the student in applying reading, writing, listening, speaking, and viewing skills in an independent manner through meaningful interdisciplinary tasks. Students will continue to develop an appreciation for literature through the study of literary elements in classic and contemporary selections. Emphasis is placed on moving from the literal to the abstract in the students’ critical thinking skills and in the use of language.  My goal is to teach students how to put their ideas, their thoughts, their imagination onto paper so that their words can be celebrated by them or an audience.  Writing is a beautiful art form.

  • I have two wonderful sons-Blake, 26 and Chance, 24.   Blake is engaged to Laci, so we will have another beautiful human joining our family soon.
  • My herd of puppies includes Haswell Pendleton II, Henry, and Buddy.  I have one cat named William Wallace.
  • I graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1988 with a Major in Elementary Education and a Minor in English.  I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Counseling at ENMU.
  • This is my 30th year in education!  I spent my first 16 years teaching at Muleshoe ISD, and my last 14 years have been at Farwell ISD.
  • I love to travel!  One of my favorite places to visit is County Tipperary, Ireland. I have also been to Iceland and Mexico.  My favorite U.S. states are Colorado and California.
  • I absolutely LOVE watching live theatre and musicals.  My favorite show is Wicked, and I am hoping that I get to go see Hamilton this fall!
  • In the summer of 2016, I attended a 200-hour yoga teacher-training course in Boulder, Colorado.  I teach a fun beginners class each week at 575 Yoga in Clovis, New Mexico.
  • I am a Games of Thrones nerd.
  • I have raced in an arenacross under the name Regina Phalange.
  • I am not on any social media.
  • I love to read, hike, swim, and laugh.

Farwell ISD's mission is to provide quality instruction to all students so they will develop into responsible, adaptable, contributing citizens with caring attitudes. The district is responsible for helping all students achieve their fullest potential since all students can learn. With this in mind, an objective-based curriculum continuum is utilized at all levels. It will include the facility for ongoing evaluation and change in order to meet the evolving needs of students.
