     Hello, my name is Melinda Bonner and I am thrilled to be teaching first grade in Farwell! I have been married to Jim Bonner for 28 years and we have two children, Bethany and Tyler. Our daughter got married this summer and moved to South Texas with her husband, Tanner Rush. Tyler is in his second year of college and is in Las Cruces. 

     I was raised in Farwell and graduated from Farwell High School in 1987. I had my 30 year high school reunion this summer. So it is very exciting for me to be coming back home to teach. 

     I taught 25 years in New Mexico before retiring this year so I could teach in Texas. I spent 18 years teaching at two different schools in Clovis, then taught four years in Melrose before returning to Clovis to teach the last three years. During my 25 years, I have taught K, 1st, 3rd, and 4th. First grade was my favorite by far because I spent 15 of my 25 years teaching that level. I am thankful for this new opportunity and am looking forward to new adventures!

 

7:55 - 8:05    Put away backpacks, turn in folders, complete lunch count, and attendance.  Begin morning work.

10:00 - 10:30  PE (every day)

 

10:30 - 10:45  Bathroom and get ready for lunch

 

10:45 - 11:15   Lunch

 

11:15 - 12:05   Bathroom break and Read aloud

 

12:05 - 12:30   Lone Star Math board

 

12:30 - 1:15      Math

 

 1:15 - 2:00      Social Studies/Science

 

 2:00 - 3:00      Music/Art and Computers  (every day)

 

 3:00 - 3:15      Finish work and bathroom/drinks

 

  3:15 - 3:30     Get ready to go home 

 

            3:30     Dismiss students

Farwell ISD's mission is to provide quality instruction to all students so they will develop into responsible, adaptable, contributing citizens with caring attitudes. The district is responsible for helping all students achieve their fullest potential since all students can learn. With this in mind, an objective-based curriculum continuum is utilized at all levels. It will include the facility for ongoing evaluation and change in order to meet the evolving needs of students.
