My name is Amanda McFarland and I have been teaching for 8 years.  My first year I taught 3rd grade math, then taught 2nd grade for 3 years. This will be my 4th year to teach art and music. 

I grew up a Lobo in Monahans, TX and graduated from West Texas A&M.  

It was in Canyon that I met my sweet husband, Lane and we have been married for 16 years. We have three amazing children.  Eric and Austin attend Farwell Jr. High and Kenzie is in 5th grade.  

We have lived in Farwell for 10 years (Lane's hometown) and are so blessed to call this small community our home.  

I tell people that I have the best job in the elementary because I get to know every single student.  I rarely have discipline problems because in my classroom we are very hands on and moving around all the time. To say " I love what I do" would be an understatement.

During the 2018 semester we will be learning about different types of music and musicians.  We will learn different types of folk dances, learn about musicals and the impact of music in our everyday lives.

2019 second semester we will be learning about different artists.  This year we will focus more on art history and techniques of well known (and not so well known) artists.

In 2017 our students performed "Elf." The picture on the right is our 5th grade performers.

Our 2018 art show was a huge success. The elementary and high school students teamed up and held an art show in the Farwell Jr. High gym.  More info will come later on our 2018-2019 art show.
Farwell ISD's mission is to provide quality instruction to all students so they will develop into responsible, adaptable, contributing citizens with caring attitudes. The district is responsible for helping all students achieve their fullest potential since all students can learn. With this in mind, an objective-based curriculum continuum is utilized at all levels. It will include the facility for ongoing evaluation and change in order to meet the evolving needs of students.
