Alyson Atkinson and Family

I grew up in the small west Texas town of Abernathy. I first learned about Farwell when I was in high school and our district was re-aligned to include them. We would hop on the "yellow dog" to come compete in sporting events, and I remember thinking...who in the world would live this far from anything? I mean...it took forever (so it seemed) to arrive in Farwell. Well, fast forward a few years to 1998...My husband moved us back to his hometown of Farwell. I couldn't be happier with our little life in this border town. I have been married to Greg for 24 years and we have three children: son, Landry; daughter, Ainsley, and daughter, Piper.

My education consists of an Associate's Degree (Legal Assistant) from South Plains College. I worked as a paralegal for 8 years in Lubbock, Denton, and also Farwell. I later received my Bachelor's Degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Elementary Education. 

I taught 4th grade here in Farwell for 6 years. This will be my 7th year as head of the libraries of Farwell ISD. I couldn't do what I do without Janie Favila (elementary library) and Connie Bailey (junior high library). We are here for the students and want to help each one find reading material suited to their likes and personality. 

I also keep busy by being co-sponsor of Farwell High School's National Honor Society and coaching UIL Spelling and Journalism. I miss the classroom; however, I still get to be a part of the students' lives for which I am thankful.

I found who indeed lived in Farwell...the most generous, helpful, and sweet spirited people you will ever meet. I'm so glad God gave me the opportunity to raise my family in this small, close-knit community.

Farwell ISD's mission is to provide quality instruction to all students so they will develop into responsible, adaptable, contributing citizens with caring attitudes. The district is responsible for helping all students achieve their fullest potential since all students can learn. With this in mind, an objective-based curriculum continuum is utilized at all levels. It will include the facility for ongoing evaluation and change in order to meet the evolving needs of students.
